ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES
If you are blind or visually impaired, there are agencies and programs in our community to assist you. In fact, we offer assistance for several areas-cognitive, mobility and literacy.
There are several software programs you can access. Ai Squared offers ZoomText, a software that will enlarge the text on your screen, making it easier for you to see the information (see Goodwill.jobs Landing Page and other main pages). There are also multiple screen readers available. The first reader is called, JAWS, Job Access With Speech. It was developed for computer users whose vision loss prevents them from seeing screen content or navigating with a mouse. JAWS provides speech and Braille output for the most popular computer applications on PC. Last but not least is a screen reader called Window-Eyes. Window-Eyes provides users' access to Windows-based computers by speaking the contents of the computer's screen. All applications, word processors, Internet, email are available to the blind user. The great news is if you have a computer equipped with Office 2013 or Windows 8 (or higher), you already have access to Window-Eyes. Microsoft built this tool directly into your software! If you have an older version of Office, (2010 or higher), you can download the Window-Eyes screen reader for free at http://www.windoweyesforoffice.com/.
In an effort to provide the best service we can, Goodwill.jobs is partnering with local organizations and companies that are disability friendly. Below is a list of our partners who provide services for the blind and visually impaired. We are working cooperatively to assist you in your job search and career development.
