PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Adult Career Coach Affiliate One Stop provides individualized job placement assistance to individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment to help them obtain competitive employment.  The position is located within the Affiliate One-Stop, a service of Goodwill of Southern Nevada, Inc.  The Affiliate One-Stop is a free walk-in employment center providing job placement services to members of the public and assisting local businesses find motivated and qualified employees.  Services are offered to job seekers and local employers at no charge.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Customer Service
  • Handle reception duties such as answering phone calls and responding to walk-in inquiries. 
  • Effectively communicate the enrollment, job search and job placement process to program participants.
  • Handle external communication with local employers through phone, email, etc.
  • Handle internal communication with the Affiliate One-Stop Manager.
  • Represent Goodwill at Job Fairs and other special events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Program Support
  • Maintain complete and accurate case notes, employment plans, records and files (hard and electronic).
  • Prepare weekly qualitative and quantitative productivity reports.
  • Meet goals set for the department.
  • Participate in departmental and agency meetings.
  • Maintain office equipment and conduct trouble-shooting.
  • Ensure proper levels of office supplies.
Job Search and Placement Assistance
  • Gather and share information about the local job market.
  • Coordinate On the Job Training (OJT) with the Job Developer.
  • Provide employment and career counseling to assist job seekers in developing an individualized employment action plan; identify appropriate short and long term employment objectives; map out strategies for reaching employment objectives; provide corresponding job development; and support the client throughout the job search.
  • Provide job readiness training in an individual or group setting (i.e., resume development, cover letter writing, interviewing skills and techniques, networking).
  • Assist job seekers with completing paper and online job applications.
  • Develop job leads and refer job seekers to local employers.
  • Help job seekers obtain pre-employment documents (i.e., Sheriff’s cards, Health cards).
  • Follow-up with job seekers to determine their employment status.  Follow-up with employers concerning referrals to determine placements.

Job Requirements:

 
  • Prefer a dynamic enthusiastic person with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, patience, diplomacy, and high level of customer service skills required. 
  • Minimum two years of demonstrated experience in employment counseling, career counseling, job development and placement.  Experience working with persons who have barriers to employment from various socio-economic, professional and ethnic backgrounds preferred.  Barriers to employment may include having low income, limited language skills, limited education and felonies. 
  • Bachelors of Arts degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication skills and ability/willingness to work with economically and culturally diverse clientele required.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team with ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Attention to detail and outstanding follow-up skills required.
  • Familiarity with Las Vegas valley labor market, business community, human services, and a working knowledge of disability-related issues.
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills.  Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Solid computer skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Email and Internet.
  • Must possess a current driver’s license and be fully insured according to Nevada law and Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s insurance coverage policy.
  • Must have a personal vehicle.
  • Provide proof of current CPR & First Aid Certification.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
